A little behind - Podcasts?

As per usual, I am way behind the times. I just discovered podcasts and they are perfect for the crappy temp job I'm working.

I'm looking for suggestions of fun podcasts. Obviously, I like comedy... but there seems to be a lot of crappy comedy podcasts out there. Anyone have any suggestions of good ones?

Further than comedy, anything else cool or otherwise extraordinary?

For comedy, I can no more highly recommend The Sound Of Young America. Great interviews and shows on older topics.

ricky gervais who produced both the offices and played david brent in the british version has a podcast although i don't know what it's called. i'm sure its hilarious.

I also love listening to Jordan, Jesse, Go! Which is even more comedy related!

In the same arena, I HIGHLY recomend both Never Not Funny (hosted by Jimmy Pardo, the most amazing crowd-work comedian working today) and The Best Show on WFMU.

I love podcasts. They make drives bearable.

My list is full of video game podcasts...1Up Yours is the best of that bunch.

Creative Screenwriting Magazine has interviews with writers talking about their movies. They run the gamut from the obscure to Transformers, which I was listening to last night. Interesting stuff.

Popular Science does short podcasts about moonbase technology and other fun nuggets.

NPR makes their shows available in podcast form also.

Update:

Bob, cool stuff. I just learned about you and Jastroch from a 2005 podcast about rock snobs.

Jeremy, the Gervais ones I found were video, so no go at work (nor with my non video ipod)... but I will have fun with that at home some time.

Others: Haven't had the chance to check them out yet, but I will.

Thanks and keep them coming. Work is 43% more bearable!!

The Ricky Gervais show is brilliant, and totally infectious.
I refuse to believe that the character of Karl Pilkington is not made-up, though. He is too perfect of a comic foil and sounding board for Gervais and Merchant.

Roy and I have been talking about doing a podcast around town for a while. Each one would be in a different bar, and we'd be drinking a different drink (or, rather, multiple rounds of a single drink) in each one. They'd be Pubcasts.

The latest episode of this has a Matt Besser interview that's not bad, but after that, he joins Andy Daly and Sean Conroy from the Swarm and Chad Carter from Respecto Montelban for an in studio improv show.

As a matter of fact, I have a Zoom H2 which is a field recorder that records to SD cards - it comes with four microphones which can record in multiple configurations. It's particularly good for podcasters. They're like $200 if you order them online. I can let you try it out.

I'm resurrecting this thread because there have probably been some interesting new podcasts pop up in the last 4 years.

Marc Maron's WTF is pretty terrific, but I'm all caught up and need some more.

I'm working through Comedy Bang Bang (formerly Comedy Death Ray). They're OK, but a bit too much light conversation and goofing around for my taste.

I couldn't find it, but I remember there being a discussion about podcasts from improvisers (I think at iO) talking about improv theory or process or something or other. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Any others along those lines?

Any interesting (and perhaps funny) political ones?

A podcast called The Scene out of iO West but I don't think they ever made it past a couple of episodes, which is a shame because I enjoyed the first couple. Oh well.
