Out of Bounds has teamed up with the Chicago Improv Festival to present the Southwestern Regional bracket for the National College Improv Tournament on November 14 in Austin, TX.
I'm telling you this so you can know it's happening, but also to get some help from you. Do you know of any college improv groups in Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, or Texas?
I'd love to invite them. PM me contact info or have them contact me.
The groups will take part in a day-long tournament in Austin culminating in the Southwestern regional Finals that night. The winner will go on to play in Chicago for the National title in February, 2010.
Naturally, more info will be to come... but for now, check out the
CIF page for info about this huge, sweet, national undertaking.

The bracket is done!
Preliminary matches are at 12noon, 1:30, 3:00, and 4:30pm
Finals are at 10:30pm
Stakes are high. The winning group will get an automatic show in the 2010 Out of Bounds Comedy Festival and a berth into the National Finals in February in Chicago. Come root for your alma mater, or pretend you went to Northern Colorado, make t-shirts, and get giant foam fingers made. These groups are really pumped about the tourney and in some cases it will be the first time they've ever traveled for a show.
Tickets will be available at the box office day of only.

This is this Saturday.
We've got college groups coming from as far as Northern Colorado, New Orleans, Arkansas!!! to compete for the Southwest Regional crown and a spot in the 2010 Out of Bounds.
The judging panel:
Afternoon matches - Michael Jastroch, Jeremy Lamb, and Tom Booker
Finals - Asaf Ronen, Jeremy Lamb, and Tom Booker
AIC people (that's you) get in at student prices (that's cheap)
We still need a host for the 1:30, 3, and 4:30 shows. We also need a couple volunteers for box and door, etc. at random times. Just PM me if you're interested.
Come make these kids feel welcome in the Austin scene. They just may move here after graduation if they like it enough!

Also, if you're interested in meeting Jonathan Pitts, the Executive Producer of the Chicago Improv Festival, he'll be there all day helping to produce this monster. Come say hey.

this just in, if you want to get in on this madness but can't make it to any of the official shows, there will be an official afterparty/open jam at coldtowne once the shows at SVT wrap up (probably around 1 or so.)

just for the annals:
groups advancing to the finals were Cooper Street, Left Right TIM, Dan's Party, and Scatter! which went on to win and earned a spot in the finals in Chicago happening in February.
It was also announced at the regional finals that all of the four above groups will be invited to play in the 2010 out of bounds. it was a great day of great improv.
oob is now in sleep mode.

Also, in a surprising turn of events, Kendle Wade (of Polite Society Presents fame) turned out to be in Left/Right Tim.
