The Hideout Theatre is putting on a production of Improvised Charles Dickens this November and December, Saturdays at 8pm. We are holding open auditions Tuesday September 15th at 7:00pm for additional cast members and understudies to join our talented and experienced cast.

The production will be directed by myself and Jessica Arjet and feature costumes, a painted set, music, lights, sound design, and a heavy marketing push. It's going to be our big holiday show of the season. This will be a narrative show that will focus strongly on the ensemble telling a dark and morbid Dickens story together.

We are also looking for people interested in tech positions (a great way to be involved with the show). We're looking for dedicated lighting and sound improvisers who will make important decisions for the show from the tech booth. We can train you.

Rehearsals will be either Tuesday or Wednesday nights starting September 22nd/23rd depending on majority availability. All cast members are expected to study Dickens outside of rehearsals.

Interested improvisers please send me an e-mail at kacibeeler at gmail dot com.

For the auditions you just need to bring yourself.
Hope to see you September 15th!

Sounds awesome and challenging.

Are there any Dickens stories that you would specifically pull from, as I haven't read anything by Charlie since the 5th grade. I know, I'm a slacker.

We'll be looking at most of his major novels like Great Expectations, Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, A Tale of Two Cities. Some of the epic tales of a life lived out in grimy Victorian England.

We will not be pulling from A Christmas Carol (as you might think), or any fantastical works.

Squeal! What glorious fun this will be, ma'am!

Because I'm already overcommitted this fall, I'm sending up a wish that this becomes a holiday tradition so I can audition next year. Or maybe I'll put my wish in a locket with a bit of my hair and give it to a street urchin with cryptic instructions about a lawyer he must visit on his sixteenth birthday.

Sigh. Can't wait to see it!

Watch a movie or two. They tend to be long, so leave time. Also, bone up on your British accent.
