(to be read as if at an AA meeting)
MY name is Dan Grimm, and I'm an improvisor
(hello Dan)
I just returned to Texas and I am trying to get in the scene here in Austin.
I am currently looking for a job and an improv outlet if I can find both. I started doing improv in college like most, binge improvising. I was an early member of Freudian Slip at the redneck trade institution down 21 know as Texas A&M. Since then I have indulged with Pavlov's Dogs in Dallas, and completed training at io Chicago, and the first year of the conservatory at Second City, I had to leave Chicago due to family matters and now I am back in Texas, where I actually love the heat again, weird, I know.
I hope this doesn't come across as braggert, because text can't always capture humility well, I just wanted to get out there as quickly as possible. I don't consider myself the greatest performer, but I do know that I am solid, and I have been at it awhile.
I am a technician as well, sound, lights, special fx, so I am somewhat available for show work if you have any open or need something built. I am currently working lights for The LCP's El Channel Show at Stage Center, and as I mentioned before I am looking for work.
I will most likely skulk around the jam tonite if I can make it. I will most likely watch as I am shy until you get to know me, or I'm on stage, or I am drunk, so if I talk to you unprompted, I am probably buzzing.
I look forward to meeting and watching and laughing with alot of you.
Dan

Thanks all.
Well I got to the Hideout at like 8pm and the show was canceled, Boo. I understand, but was jazzed about seeing some Austin talent. Got drunk instead.
Maybe soon.

I'm guessing you're talking about the Jam being canceled.
If you were expecting a show, you would have been caught off guard a little... The jam is just an opportunity for improvisers of all levels of experience to get together and play some games. I think in the last couple years it has taken on a "free improv class" feel, so when no experienced improvisers jump up to lead it newer-to-improv folks hesitate to go. The jam itself though was created to just be an opportunity to get some play time in and work on skills n' stuff.
There will be plenty of shows to watch over the weekend. Never fear!
