RIP Truman
It is my very sad duty to report that Erin Molson's dog, Truman was hit by a car and passed away today. Please keep her in your hearts and minds as she goes through this very tough time. Any of you that were lucky enough to meet Truman know that he was a very special dog. Erin loved him very much and he will be greatly missed.

No! What a terrible thing!
I didn't know it until I got my own dog, but good dogs can be such uplifting and inspiring beings. Erin gave so much love and attention to Truman and I think she did great by him.
It can be so hard to keep them safe. They find ways out of your yard, they swallow random things they find. We all live right by these roads...
Last fall Roy and I thought Tuesday (our dog) swallowed Tylenol so we rushed her to the veterinarian ER and spent $$$$ getting it out of her system. I just happened to find an empty and chewed on bottle in the backyard. You never know and you can only do so much.
I wish Erin the best as she recovers from this tragedy.

When I got a dog I read Cesar Milan's book, "Cesar's Way". He has some really cool things to say about the Dog life-cycle that are helping me to cope with my dog getting up in years. There's a whole section of the book dedicated to the topic starting on page 264. And you can read it here.
The most soothing part for me is what he writes about how dogs live in the moment. So we can take solace in the fact that, no matter what, our dogs are living their lives to the fullest. All the way through. And they leave with "no unfinished business or regrets." It's a nice thought. Sorry for your loss, Erin. I hope this helps, if only a little bit.
