Hiya,

If you are interested in the improv community in and around Austin, TX or related topics like indie theatre, TV, & film, acting, sketch, and standup comedy, this forum is the place to be. It's a great way to meet members of the community, pick up a cast and crew, and find out what's going on.

You are encouraged to register for these forums; while you can read most of the topics as a guest, you can only post to the Help Desk unless you're registered. The reason for this will be explained shortly.

We're not averse to getting paid for what we do and we like supporting members of the community, whether that means helping you cast and get cast, find students for your classes, or audience for your shows. That's what the Announcement forums such as The Corkboard, Events, Classes and other forums are for. We welcome certain kinds of commercial posts, provided they're germane to our community. The best way to find out what's germane is to look at the other posts and post to the Help Desk if there's any confusion.

Unwelcome commercial offerings are those that have no relationship to the purpose of this forum, including but not limited to:
  • Online Pharmacies
  • pr0n (Porn)
  • Ringtones, (anti-)spyware and generic PC utilities
  • Mortgage, multilevel marketing & pyramid/Ponzi schemes, and dubious OTC stock offers
  • Anything involving Nigeria, Miriam Abacha, advance fee fraud, lotto winnings, or otherwise.
We're pretty open about what people can discuss here and at least 75% of our members can conduct themselves as ladies and gentlemen. Being a rude asshat is unlikely to get you booted provided you occasionally say something of value. However, one sure way to get your account deleted, banned, disabled, and mercilessly mocked is to post unwelcome commercial offerings of the types mentioned above.

Oh, one more thing: the forums are for entertainment and communication purposes, not free professional counseling. The average forum participant can't compete with a licensed professional counselor and many local therapists offer services on an as-can-pay basis. Please take advantage of them if you're not feeling right (you're down, nutty, etc.) It's not that we don't want to help, it's that a real therapist in a confidential office setting is guaranteed to provide better service than a public forum such as this one. We still love you honey, we just can't help.

Have fun, play nice. Or else.

Thanks,

-- The Management
