Austin Improv

...was a lot of fun.

The audience was only about 1/3 to 1/2 full, but the quality of the shows was very good. Not only that, but the variety of the shows was awesome.

Kazillionaire* came out and did a mostly silent, fully physical sketch show.
Hoover's Blanket came out and did a fast-paced barrage of funny scenes.
And Lovey and Lovey performed a flashback sketch show that seemed like a longform. (Just as good the second time I saw it!)

These shows were great, and I'm very impressed with the level of sketch we can perform.

I can't wait until tonight!

Thanks a bunch to you and the others (me and Greg) for seeing the show last night. With a light crowd it certainly helped amp thing up to hear your laughs.

I hope to make it your show tonight. The Super Troupe (whatever, shut up people) plays at eight at Ester's. It's already sold out. Imagine playing to 100+ people. I just wet my pants.

the variety between the groups was really interesting. it ran the whole gammet of silence to chatter with everything in between. i think you might be hard pressed to find three sketch shows that were so dern different on one night.
hopefully there was something for everyone.

i enjoyed the throughlines, theme, and general good acting of hoover's and the timing and charm of the luvys.

Seriously inspired...to play big and confident and go as strange as you want to. Seeing you two is pushing me to try and make the next show as twisted and over-the-top as it is in my head before it hits paper. Thanks!

Hoover's had real sharp characters and slick transitions. And I'm glad secret service is getting a lot of stage time these days.

Luvy and Luvy were so witty and light. I could've watched that awkward kiss-stealing scene forever. Also, dang, they looked sharp.

And for the record, I also speak Moonish.

Also, the name of my next troupe is secret lovers.

Sucks I had to miss HB, although I caught bits and pieces here and there. Sounded great!

That's one reason doing shows sucks, you always miss shit.

for all the work we put into sketch (I burned the ever-living shit out my fingers using hot glue on an important prop for FancyFancy), it's great when people come out to see it.

I echo Artur's sentiment...go and see some sketch! It's what sometimes comes from improvised scenes. And theater sketch is so much crazy, campy fun...especially the way it's going down around here...with dashes of utter brilliance...

Andy (and the other people performing the competition sketches) will not get to the Hideout until around 9:45 tonight. The new theatre manager Xaq Webb is on duty but hasn't had much training yet, so if everyone could lend a helping hand in whatever small ways come up tonight, that would be sweet.
