Camprov in August

Hey Y'all.

So I am teaching at Camprov in August. For those not familiar, it is a weekend long retreat that takes place in a campground (cabins, not tents) about 30 miles outside of Portland, Maine. There are classes (other teachers include Jill Bernard & Zach Ward) during the day, shows in the evening, swimming in the lake, volleyball and kayaking, campfire parties, etc.

Because I am teaching, I can offer a discount to folks from my city. So if any of you want to attend go to http://www.camprov.com/ and register and where it asks you what theater you are affiliated with, put my name and you will get $100 off the $300 price. That price includes lodging and all meals including a big lobster/steak dinner on Saturday night.

It is also A LOT of fun.

Whoa! Everyone who can, should do this! Maine in the summer is the best thing ever! and combined with improv. omg. I'm from Portland and I worked at a summer camp on Sebego lake for two summers (which is pretty close to where you're going). It is so pretty there in the summer and the lakes are so much fun. It sounds like you'll be pretty busy, but if you need info on stuff to do, let me know.

There are classes regularly and you sign up for as many as you want. But even if you do, you will find you still have plenty of time to do whatever you want including taking in the nature around you.

The site mentions it is suggested you arrive by 5pm on Friday, but it doesn't mention leaving. Do the festivities wind down on Sunday and you want to leave in the evening, or hold out til Monday morning if that's even possible?

I play the accordion. In terms of thinking of it as a musical career, I think it's sort of like calling yourself an astronaut because you have a shiny suit.

Everyone leaves at various points on Sunday afternoon/night.

Ooooh. If I don't end up underwater somewhere around an island this summer, this might be a Thing.

And if you sign up with a group you can see about submitting to perform on the Friday night, BUT last time they had a sign-up sheet for performing on Saturday where everyone was challenged to create an experimental format. Lots of fun.
