{COTFG's newest venture in breaking the boundaries between audience and performer, and local cultural institution partnerships}

The Church of the Friendly Ghost in conjunction with Monofonus Press is inviting you to an evening of pure pop culture spectacle, audience participation, and the chance to become the next viral phenomenon! CotFG’s newest signature event, YouTube You Call It, is launching on June 14th with Monofonus Press’ own Video Chef Max Juren as host!

YouTube You Call It is an evening where you call the shots!

Bring a list of your favorite viral videos, unknown gems or dirty secret pleasures and share them with a room full of friends and soon to be friends. You scream 'em, we screen 'em!
From sneezing pandas, air sex, and the Star Wars kid, to your drunken overly affectionate uncle...
We are shamelessly committed to fulfilling your video desires.

Furthermore, host Max Juren has promised that tonight “Everybody Wins!” A Youtubular evening of games with an interactive YouTube screen installation by fellow Monof-ite and multimedia artist, Michelle Devereux; plus the chance to be in a video of your own! This is a night of sensory overload that promises to baffle and amuse.
Additionally, it’s free. Which, by the way, suggests NOTHING about the evening's quality. We're just that nice, seriously. There WILL be cocktails and beer.

So OK, if you missed Max’s hilarious standing room only performances at Domy Austin/Houston, this night is your chance to become the fun. (This is what is known in Germany as "High Sweetest" or "Hoch am süßesten")

Bonus: Live Historical YouTube Video Reenactments. Real.

RSVP for this event on Facebook, and also become a fan of COTFG! We need 1000 fans by Saturday to keep our short name! Thanks!

“Max Juren makes objects and environments in the form of video, installation, and attempted pop phenomenon product sculptures.
He believes in the power of novelty, the gimmick, the absurd, and snacks. His work is concerned with transforming impulse into coherence, and the obvious into entertainment. He lives and works in Austin. “

“Michelle Devereux graduated from Bard College in upstate New York where she studied painting and the whimsical art of Cybergraphics. Upon graduating, she moved to New York City, but after her free Soho loft caught fire, she decided to return to her home state of Texas. Michelle Devereux's work combines various media to form images of perplexing depth, bizarre texture, and humorous subject matter. Her work is intended to embrace the archetype, inspire interaction, and make the inanimate engaging.”
