Shana's Birthday Pot Luck Brunch this Sunday

Post by smerlin »

You're invited!
Come by and carbo load before Mojo Kickball.

Host: Shana Merlin
Location: Our House
1708 Mohle Dr, Austin, TX
When: Sunday, May 21, 11:00am

Phone: 512-657-3005

This Sunday is my birthday--28! We're having a Pot Luck Brunch to celebrate. We'll have an open house that starts at 11 AM and goes until 3pm, so you can swing by any time: after dim sum, before mojo kickball, or anything in between.

I'll be providing coffee, dozens of bagels with all the fixin's: cream cheese, lox, etc and the Sunday New York Times. You can bring juice, fruit, eggy-type dishes, salads, baked goods, or whatever else you like for a leisurely yet decadent brunch. No gifts, please.

Damn, looks like fun!

I'm sorry I couldn't make it, but I was in negotiating mode for a place of my own from about 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

You'll have to do it again sometime! Why wait for a birthday?

Wes, did you negotiate successfully?

I didn't get the sweet deal I wanted, but they did accept my bid in the end.
(Even after getting all kinds of concessions from me, they tried to back out later, about 7:00, claiming a better offer came along. But my realtor told them where to stick it because they'd already signed off on entertaining my bid. The seller tried to weasel, but my guy said that we'd fight and she'd pay a lot more than the 3,000 more they were offering in the end and she'd lose to boot. So I signed everything and wrote some checks and after two very intensive days, and one slightly angry-at-me seller, I'm on the path to ownership).

I still have to have the inspectors out on Thursday and do all that option period stuff like finding insurance, then manage to pay everything at closing that is required, but it looks like it is going to happen. As of June 15th, I should become a member of the landed gentry.

we will look forward to your entrance to the landed gentry.

upsides of membership: equity in residence, investment opportunity

downsides of membership: co-dependent relationship with home depot, demarcation of slow morph into your parents

good work wes bain!

and - i will write you back about the check junk this evening.
