Rapt

Post by valetoile »

I heard part of an interview with Winifred Gallagher, the author of "Rapt: Attention and the Focused Life." Like most other pop-neuroscience books out there, it seemed to have a lot of interesting applications to improv. I haven't read it yet.

This book looks interesting. I read Gallagher's "The Power of Place" a long time ago, and although I don't remember much of the information, I do remember that she's a good writer and that it was really entertaining.

I'm sure Rapt has a lot to offer in relation to Improv. One thing I'm learning about Improv is that a lot of things that might be considered trivial and not worthy of a "serious" person's attention are the details that make scenes real and funny. It seems that the gift for us as improvisers is that we can use a somewhat scattered focus to our advantage.

I found this book on Rapt's amazon page that also looks good: The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle
