We are watching the series finale to The Wire tonight. We are probably watching it right now, or have already finished watching it.

This show is so freaking sweet. I have been watching it for over a year now and it never ceases to blow my f'ing mind. Eric likes it even more than I do. In fact, Eric only started watching it like a month ago and he's already caught up to me (but to be fair, I stopped watching it so that we could watch the last episode together).

So, if you want to watch the Wire go ahead, but Eric and I have already seen it. Next time you see us you can skip asking us if we've seen it and just start talking to us about it.

Awesome. I blew through every episode in the course of two weeks. I felt really gross physically after staying indoors so often instead of enjoying time off work, but I'd do it all again if I could have amnesia for The Wire.

HOLY SHIT The Wire is SUCH an amazing show. Since you have finished watching the finale-let me offer you a hug.

I was not ready to like this show as much as I did. I think The Wire was the show that got me back into watching tv a bit. I'd heard for a few years, "You have to see this -- it's easily the best show on television." But I'd look at the DVD box (no cable) and it didn't look like anything special. Even the first episode or two I thought "Hmmm, pretty good." But then when that first season gets cooking -- like when Lester quietly notices that phone number on the wall during that bust -- it started to go beyond my expectations of a cop/detective show, or any show I'd seen.

Sometimes I think about the show and I wish I'd never seen it, just so I could see it for the first time again. I'm currently trying to figure out how long I have to wait to forget enough so I can re-watch it all again.

Also, I'm a little biased in my love of this show since I lived in Baltimore from 1991-1999 and there is no hyperbole in how this show depicts the crime, drugs, poverty, and that combination of desperation and fucking apathy that runs through the town. I miss that place.

I tore through the first three seasons while the fourth was airing and by the time I got to the fifth, I made myself watch one per month and waited even longer for the last episode because I didn't want it to end.

When the B-day rolled around this year, the wife got me the complete series on DVD... she hadn't seen it... SLAP! Excuse to watch it all over again! Loving it the second time around.

never would i think there would ever be a show that would make my parents, who grew up in the 50s, love a black gay thug so much. Man my dad loves Omar. that show is magic.

Half way through season 3, thus through the whole series. Wish they were still making them and I wasn't working toward a finite goal.

Turns out this was answered for me when Erika got me the series box set for my birthday. Already plowing through season 1 again and it's still just as exciting as the first time -- there's even more I'm now noticing this time around.
