[Kvetching] The week from hell.

Post by Brian Boyko »

Thursday Morning: I find out about Time Warner's bandwidth caps.

Thursday Midday: I interview a Time Warner spokesman. Unlike other journalists he has to deal with on a daily basis, I actually know enough about networking to call him on his B.S. It is an uncomfortable interview.

Thursday Afteroon: I write up the article. It is published the next morning.

Thursday Evening: I check my bandwidth usage to find that under the new plan, it will cost me $300/mo for broadband. This means I have to move. I feel tired and drained. I head to sleep early.

Friday, Very Early Morning: I wake up and am in pain. I'm sick with the flu. I try to make it into work but realize that I can't do crap. I go home. I am miserable.

Saturday: See Friday.

Sunday: Still not better. Go to the doctor and get a strep test done. Go see Wrestlemania with Chris's friends. I am generally a moody lump and bring the mood down because I am sick.

Monday: I start to feel a little better, only a little sore throat and earache.

Tuesday: The earache has gotten worse and I can't sleep. It hurts to talk. I go into the emergency room, as it's 2AM and I'm obviously getting worse, not better. The doctor notices an ear infection, brought on by the flu, and prescribes antibiotics. My sleep schedule is f-ed up.

Wednesday: I find out that my company has let 8 people go - the first lay-offs in the history of the company - and that everyone's getting a pay-cut of 3%, across the board. I'm luckily not one of the eight, but I am still getting that 3% cut.

I have no idea if this will "fix" anything or if we'll get back on track. All I know is that I'm understandably cranky.

And that I'll probably need a roommate.
