Summer of Tears Coming to Austin

a dude sent me this!

"Jeremy,

We don't know each other but I'm willing to bet some amount of
currency we might be fast friends. WAIT! This isn't a email scam!
Just one improviser/sketch performer reaching out to another. Give me
a another three paragraphs! Please!

My name is Todd Waldman and I run the comedy troupe Summer of Tears in Los Angeles. Summer of Tears is coming to Austin to perform April
17th and 18th at the Hideout Theatre. Usually when someone asks me to
come check out their theatre show I smile nod and run the other way
but I swear we're legit!! We won the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in
2007, made a pilot for Warner Brothers in 2008, sold a movie earlier
this year to Paramount and now we're traveling all over performing
live. Our show at Chicago Sketch Fest garnered these awesome
reviews:

"Best Sketch Show: Summer of Tears. This group from Los Angeles knows
exactly what it is doing— the players are supremely confident, and
the comedy is smooth, with just enough anarchic energy to keep things
interesting. They also understand the value of flow, with transitions
as entertaining as the sketches themselves. If anyone at SketchFest
is ready for TV, it’s this group." —Chicago Tribune

"There’s a reason the guy next to me hailed the show as “the best
sketch show I’ve ever seen.” Smart, sassy, and consistently
hysterical, Summer of Tears’ fantastically bizarre foray into
subjects ranging from (...deleted to save the joke...) is like
finding the Holy Grail of comedy". —Time Out Chicago

Like I said we're legit. Or as legit as a traveling sketch troupe can be...

Anyway, I'm sure you're busy as hell and I have really low
expectations so please don't feel obliged. However, should you get a
few minutes and could think of anything helpful we can do to promote
the show - like who to advertise with on the cheap, how to get people
to show up, websites, newspapers etc. we could get to list us or
review us then that would be FREAKING awesome. We don't know a lot of
people in Austin and are getting in town only a day before the show so
we won't have a lot of time to publicize. We're trying to do
everything we can right now from our laptops to insure some sort of
audience. Not your problem I know. But as someone with experience in
the Austin comedy community I thought you might be able to help.

Also, check out www.summeroftears.com and watch some of our funny videos.

Thank you in advance for any and all help. Hope we are fast friends
and I can buy you a beer when we're down there. Or if you hate us and
me for this email I can buy you two beers."

Looks like it could be pretty sweet.

Just checked out their YouTube vids.

"Teen Wolf" and "Baby" are thoroughly enjoyable.

One of their members, Sarah Nixon-Kirschner, is a former student of mine and was in one of my productions of "Walt Disney's Women In Prison".

A friend of a friend is in this troupe, so I'm going to try and make it out on Friday to check out their show.

I wonder what times their shows are. I have an art opening on the 17th and I fly out on the morning of the 18th for CIF. I hope they plan on doing a 10pm show...Looks like it'll be good!
