What the fuck is on KLRU right now?
I'll tell you...
HEIDI 4 PAWS: A FURRY TALE
HEIDI 4 PAWS is a re-telling of the children's classic story of HEIDI, but with a difference: dogs play all of the characters. In the tradition of BABE and CHARLOTTE'S WEB, this movie uses animals as actors. Filmed in HD, all sixteen dogs are mouth articulated using computer-generated images. The dogs are in costume, with wigs, hats, and in many cases eyeglasses and even shoes. They are voiced by talented and well-known actors such as Angela Lansbury who portrays Grandmamma Sesehund, Stephen Rea as the kindly Doctor, Julian Sands at Peter the Goat herder, and Steve Guttenberg as Sebastian the butler.
This is the most disturbing thing I have ever seen.

Yup, I think that about sums it up.kbadr wrote:What the fuck?
God, I know.
Steve Guttenburg DOES NOT have the range to play the voice of a butler! This is not acceptable.
On the plus side though, I just love computer generated mouth articulation. My personal favorite is babies that talk like high powered business executives, but dogs and cats with scrappy personalities are almost as good. I was really surprised that this had not already become a staple of public television. Glad to see they finally rectified this gap in their programming.

I thought it was sad when edutainment reared its pumpkin head - how can we make learning (you know - math, science, history ...) entertaining enough to hold the diminishing attention spans of students?
Have young people now become so simple-minded that we need to make the most basic of human interest stories - the fairy tales - "more interesting"?
What's next? Will Sir Robin Goodfellow and an upstart pack of four-legged improvisers dominate the Austin improv scene? What does this trend foretell for the adult entertainment industry?
On the up side, thousands of homeless pets may soon become valuable assets in the burgeoning animaltainment industry.

When I saw "A Furry Tale" I thought it WAS adult entertainment. I thought KLRU had crossed over into bizarre fetishes involving a lot of mascot costumes.

Ok...There was an opera about the invention of the atomic bomb on KLRU last night. It was amazing. I turned it on as one of the scientists was singing about setting the atmosphere on fire. Over and over again.
I think it was this:

Yeah, John Adams's Doctor Atomic--same guy who wrote the opera Nixon in China. I watched some of that last night as well.
