Ever had a character that won't leave?
A couple weeks ago in a Maestro show, I was in a Good, Bad, and Worse Advice scene. I played the worse advice slot and did it as five-year-old Timmy. My main lines were "I had tater tots for lunch", "Hello!", and "Jello!"
Ever since then, I keep pretending to be Timmy and I don't mean when I'm on stage or in rehearsal. Sometimes, I'm driving home from work and talk as Timmy about how I like to mix mustard and ketchup when I eat my tater tots.
Ever had a character that stayed with you long after you left the stage the first time you played him or her?

Are you the son of Dorian Gray. Or are you Dorian Gray himself?NoahV wrote:When alone I stare into mirrors and become a grizzled old man.

the summer after college i lived in seaside, florida and helped found spf7. one night we did an "airport" long-form format. (we actually utilized something that i wish more people in austin were into - character diagramming and costuming). anyhow, i guess it has something to do with Timmys since the character i played was Timmy who was flying to see his grandma and was a big boy all by hisself. about 45 minutes after the show it took someone at the table shaking me to get me to snap out of it. trust me, chicks LOVE when guys at bars act like five year olds.

If you disrespect your character, or play it just for laughs, it will sell some gags, but it's all technique.
