I host the website for Improv Everywhere, and we've gotten absolutely hammered the past few days. If you want to see what network traffic looks like when you've been slashdotted, digged, gizmodo'd, and more:

The short version is that the system that hosts their site averages 1-2 Megabits per second of network traffic, but starting May 1, has been somewhere between 30-40 Mbps on average. That's a "spike".
