NO PANTS DAY IS THIS FRIDAY!
Hey guys, in case you didn't know, this Friday, May 5th, is No Pants Day.
Don't believe me? Check out http://www.nopantsday.com.
The members of Parallelogramophonograph are hosting this Friday and we are requesting that all performers not wear pants. We would also like to propose that audience members not wearing pants get a discount.
The schedule is as follows:
3FER 8:00
FOOLISH MORTALS
1 A.M
MASSIVE
AUSTIN STYLE:ORGANIC COMEDY 10:00
THE KNUCKLEBALL NOW
McNICHOL & MAY
CAGEMATCH 11:30
DARK BLOOD LORDS vs. CHAMPIONS THE KNUCKLEBALL NOW
The hosts will not be wearing pants.
It would be nice if the performers would not wear pants either.
Remember to consider the different pantless options one has. Picking an option that would be the most stage-friendly would be greatly appreciated.
If everyone could take the time to inform the performers they have contact with about this exciting opportunity to perform without pants, that would be most helpful.
I'm sure Roy can take over this thread with different pantless options and what is standard and what not.

Yes yes, Jay, you pegged it. This Friday is the ultra-rare convergence of Cinqo-de-Mayo and No Pants Day.
No Pants Day is on the first Friday of every May, and for the past 5 years or so, Wes, Kareem and I have helped to spear-head various celebrations. There are tons of pictures in the image gallery of nopantsday.com. There are parties being planned nationwide.
If there's enough interest, I'll be glad to have a No Pants Day afterparty at the Moonbase, too.
As for what to wear, I usually opt for a 3-piece suit, minus the pants-piece, and wear, thick, modest boxers with a button. If you're performing on stage and want some extra protection, you can always 'double bag it.'

Consider me officially interested in a No Pants Party...that is all.

Technically, no. A skirt is a pants substitute. As the site says, to determine if you are truly going pantsless, you must act like you are going to wear pants and then not put pants on.
No skirts, no kilts, no shorts.
Boxers, briefs, bloomers, etc. are all acceptable. Just wear boxers if you are a girl and it is like shorts. No uncomfortableness.

Again, pajamas are a pants substitute.
From the FAQ:
So I can wear a skirt instead? or "Hey, no problem, I was gonna wear a dress anyways!"
You're very clever, but you're missing the point. Articles of clothing like skirts, shorts, kilts, and dresses don't count, because people are encouraged to revel in the absence of pants, and not replace pants with other clothing. The point is to relax and enjoy the humor inherent in people not wearing pants. A good rule of thumb is to pretend like you were going to wear pants, and then just fail to put them on.

I can't verywell follow that "rule of thumb" due primarily to some ridiculous "decency" laws. Apparently "going commando" is frowned upon by most social standards unless you have pants or a pants subsitute on.

No, you speak for yourself. And that's okay.andrea wrote:i don't know if i speak for all of the foolish mortals, but i will not be performing sans pants.
Looks like the Mortals will probably not be sans pants--during the show. We need to tape this show for festival entries and it probably wouldn't be cool to have half a troupe go sans and half not.
I am interested in going sans at other points in the day, but do long johns count as an option? I believe so. No one wears those typically in lieu of pants....they're worn under, eh...
Eh?
Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.

Sure. Follow the holiday as you see fit.
NoPantsDay.com has been listed on Fark, and the site is currently SWAMPED. I'm putting up a bare-bones pages that among other things mentions the Friday shows as the place to be sans pantaloons.

Just to give you an idea of how out of control No Pants Day has gotten,
Searching news.google.com, there are 4 articles that talk about No Pants Day- from Philly, New Orleans, Boston and California.
Three radio stations- the BBC, a radio station in San Antonio, and a radio station in New Orleans have talked to us about interviews.
The KBS, a major Korean broadcasting company is having a correspondent interview and hang out with the people celebrating in Atlanta.
So, ummm, No Pants Day!

I respect you guys celebrating this day, but Erika and I will be wearing pants for the show.
It's fun, but franky I'm torn because of our other discussions about raising the quality of the shows and ticket prices and all. It's all up to personal decision, I know, but that's where I'm coming from, just with people paying money to see us and all.
