Tuesday Night Jam - 11/25/08

Post by Wesley »

Where: Hideout Theater (617 Congress Ave), upstairs
When: Tuesday Night, 7:00 to 10:00 pm
Why: To have fun, improve your improv, and meet other members of the community
How Much: Totally Free! (There may even be free handouts. Huzzah!)

The past few weeks, one of the biggest things that keeps coming up is rushing - rushing to conflict, rushing through plot, rushing, rushing, rushing... So, several of you have asked that we work on exercises that slow the action down, that use silence effectively, and help give you an opportunity to think as well as play on stage.

What Maestro game would you like to workshop? I was thinking something like High School Yearbook or Slideshow, but if there is any game in particular you've encountered in recent shows you want to work on, let me know.

Also, I want to work the mock show a little different this week. I know some of you want to eventually direct and host. If so, let me know and I'll get you to set up some games, take suggestions, etc. and I'll give you focused feedback on your hosting.

And don't forget, it's pre-Thanksgiving Jam!
In a mini jam tradition, save some time for a drink at the Dog & Duck afterward! Many people have Wednesday off or as a half day, so come get your long, lazy weekend started early with a quick pint after the jam!

No experience necessary! Not an improviser, but curious about improv? Come on by! Already an improviser, but have a curious friend? Send them along (or bring them and come yourself)! All experience ranges welcome! Jams are also a great place for those in classes looking for extra free help, and for those that just finished classes or just started a troupe looking to refine their skills as they seek more performance opportunities! Offer not valid in Vermont.
