In September of 2005, a few days after the disaster of Hurricane Katrina, I received a phone call. As the Co-Executive Producer of the Out of Bounds Improv Festival and Miniature Golf Tournament, I was in the middle of the busiest week of the year, with the fest coming in a couple of days. It was my co-producer, Shannon McCormick, and he had just received a call from a troupe from New Orleans who had been abandoned and left homeless by the hurricane. They didn’t want to know if they could stay with anyone, or how to get money, or what was going on in Austin. They wanted to know if there was any way they could play in the festival.
