A Crisis of Conscience

Should I buy Rock Band? I can get a used Guitar Hero guitar and the original Rock Band and get out under 40 bucks. I like the songs in Rock Band, but I feel like the more I play Rock Band, the less I'm learning to play a real guitar. It's like an anti-skill.

I'm on the fence and I need some opinions to push me over to one side or the other.

I've heard it said that playing the drums in Rock Band builds up your real-life drum playing skills.

Playing RB drums would have some analogue to their real life counterpart, but that controller thing bears little resemblance to a real guitar.

Play Rock Band the old-fashioned way - crank up your favorite music and do your best to play along with it. Lather. Rinse. Repeat a hundred times. Walk away with some actual skills.

Truer words were never spoken, except perhaps "AIIIEEEEEE!!!! HELP! I'M ON FIRE!!!"

or "I was kind of a lonely kid".
