OBAMA WINS!!!

I thought Mac's speech was the exact way to make a classy concession speech. I was glad he didn't lose Arizona, that's just humiliating for a candidate.
My prediction last night looks about right that Obama would win by more than 320 electoral votes if he took Florida, which I expected that he would last night and was sure of tonight when it was only 30% precincts reporting in.

This is one of those moments we'll tell our kids about. Wow.

When I went to the "Hall of Presidents" at DisneyWorld this summer, I thought how awesome it would be when we would be able to see President Lincoln and President Obama standing together. I wept at the distance we as a people have come, and the distance we have yet to go.

That is what a presidential speech sounds like. It was uplifting, Obama knows to invoke the word "we" often, he mentioned inviting disagreement, and was realistic at the same time about possibly not fixing everything within his term.

I know we have a long way to go and there's a lot of work to do, but for the first time in a long time, I feel optimistic about this country.

Best first presidential election I ever could have voted in!

Congratulations to us all. But this only the beginning of it all.

America really showed a lot this evening. The traditional wisdom of red and blue states changed. The voices of people that would not otherwise be heard, came out.

Now, I ask one more thing of you all.

Keep that passion alive. The passion that you all brought out to make this moment in history happen, need to stay strong for the next two years. We have a rare moment, where our leadership in the White House and Congress match up in a way that we believe can benefit the world. The next two years is going to be under a lot of scrutiny, not just of a party, but of an ideology.

It is our job to use our new found political passion, to keep on our Democratic representatives who have a chance to make actual change in the way our country is run. Keep on them. Tell there are no more excuses to be made and no more time to waste. I plan to start a letter writing campaign to that effect.

In other words: Shit better done happen now.

Somewhere in America later tonight, after smiling graciously through gritted teeth throughout the evening, Hillary locks herself in a room away from everyone else, and smashes everything in it to tiny bits. Then she sighs a very long sigh, composes her hair, and goes downstairs.

I believe that Obama winning is even more historic in that he might be the first black person to be the leader of a major western country other than South Africa. Am I right in thinking that there's never been a major world leader besides Mandela who is black?

I'm trying so hard not to be too excited. But I'm totally failing! I agree with Asaf, that now we have to take that ball and run it into the end zone again and again and again.

Exactly my sentiments; emphasis on the second long. (Actually, I had a little optimism with Pelosi but that fell flat.) Totally agree with Asaf; we need to keep on them.

I can't believe Americans elected a black president; I think this would be unheard of even quite recently.

I wish this measure in San Francisco passed to rename their sewage treatment plant after George W. It was controversial because some felt it was demeaning to people who work there and others said that it is a highly functioning plant, the name should go to something that works less well.
