SKETCH PROV
Improve Your Performance of Scripted Comedy
Develop Sketches Through Improv

About the Workshop:
We've all heard the quip that "Improvisers are nothing more than lazy writers." While this is not always the the case, it is true that improv is often more enjoyable to work on than tightly scripted pieces. It’s possible to write and rehearse the fun out of comedy scenes. This workshop will focus on staying in the moment and learning to play with your scene partner within the structure of scripted comedy, and developing scripted comedy through improv. Rediscover your work by leaving scenes open to improv and turning improv into sketch. Instructor Michael Jastroch’s two person sketch-prov show, Lovey and Lovey, has won Best of Fest in the 2005 Lone Star Sketch Fest and at the 2008 Frontera Fringe Festival and a "Best of Austin" critic's choice award from the Austin Chronicle.

About the Instructor
Michael Jastroch began his comedy career as editor 'n' chief of NYUʼs only intentionally funny publication, The Plague. While living in New Orleans, Michael worked in print media as a writer, editor, and art director and wrote and performed sketch comedy and improv with Trap Doors, ColdTowne, and ComedySportz. Michael has continued to write and perform with ColdTowne while in Austin, winning several awards for his improv including “Best Comedy Group 2008â€

Lovey & Lovey is the most picture perfect example of Sketch-prov I've ever seen other than FOX News.
