Austin Improv

It's that time again - I'm directing Maestro this Saturday, which does not fall on Halloween, but the Day of the Dead. I'm not saying that you have to do anything special, but happy dancing skeletons or players who reference Grim Fandango may be eligible for special treatment.

So, players put your shouts out, and I'm also looking for a co-director. I'll do my best to get the list out by Thursday, so holler up.

And since I added all my music, The Grim Fandango soundtrack should be on The Hideout computer. I'm just sayin'

This is me, jumping up and down referencing Grim Fandango, which I just googled. Is that good enough?

Bah!  Just my luck -- I have a show at SVT, and won't be able to make Grim Fandango night.  Hopefully a performer will stand on an imaginary pier and stare up at the imaginary moon on my behalf.

This sounds like fun, I want to play.

Ummm...aren't we supposed toget into shows free anyway? Correct? Being members of AIC?

You've got to pay to get into the show but if there are seats available after the show starts then improvisors can get in for free.

"Technically" that is correct. It is almost never enforced unless we have a sellout crowd. Then we ask improvisers to give up their seats so paying customers can use them.

It should be enforced more.

Maybe one day it will be. Until then, we should try to be good and wait til show time to take a seat.

I'd be happy to discuss this with anyone further offline (or maybe online, just not in the Maestro thread!) as I've seen lots of inconsistencies. And of course then we get into who exactly qualifies as an improvisor or AIC member. Because I'd say that 1/3 of the paying audience are actively taking improv classes, going to the jams, etc. Does this mean that they no longer have to pay?
