I don't know how many of you will be able to do this, but I told Latifah I'd try to help out. Here's here email to me earlier today.

OK. Here’s the deal. We’re launching this two-week city wide celebration of arts, culture and Creativity in honor of National Arts and Humanities Month and the CreateAustin cultural planning intiative. The celebration is called GET YOUR ART ON. (logo attached.) Have also attached a copy of the full page ad that will be in the Statesman XL on Thursday. All event details are on our NowPlayingAustin website.

We’ve got these cool armadillos that are our logo character. Different ones for each discipline. I enclose one. (By the way, Jim Franklin will also be there tomorrow.)

So tomorrow we’re having an Armadillo Reception at City Hall to launch our Get Your Art On campaign. There’s even a mayoral proclamation declaring the next two weeks as time to Get Your Art On. The reception will be outside at City Hall in the plaza – unless it rains. If it rains, it will go indoors to the Atrium.

I would LOVE it if some improv people can come and get everyone there — all the city hall people and all — involved in doing a few fun group improvisations. And of course, have hand out material to give out so everyone will come later to your shows!

Noon to one at City Hall tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct 15.
You can come at 11:30 to get set up.

Councilwoman Laura Morrison will read the proclamation.

We’re suppose to have some TV cameras there also.

Whoa! Very late notice. I think this is one of those things that would be difficult to pull off with out a little planning and a few more details. Which is too bad, because I could have done it if I'd known earlier. Sounds like fun, too.

Yeah, I didn't hear about it until yesterday afternoon.

Is there a place where we can catalog events like this so we can try for next year?
