Credits:
David Zimmerman - Director, Editor, Producer, Composer
Julie Zimmerman - Catering, Key Grip
Craig Zimmerman - Second Key Grip, Public Relations
Starring...
Nick Ramirez - The Hero
Eric Garcia - The Boss
Andrew Wesley - The Henchmen
Craig Zimmerman - Can N. Fodder
Spoiler: David Zimmerman - The Gamer
And Weena Mercator as the Hopping Woman
Production Notes:
-People thought the guns and swords were real and called the cops not once, but twice.
-This is my most serious and most experimental movie to date. The story was supposed to be more concrete, but that was only because we knew the twist ending, so you might not get it until a second viewing.
-This movie has the most special effects I've ever used: trick photography (which I learned from this), gunshots and blocks, and color/sound correction.
-There is an appearance of the famous Wilhelm Scream when the hero kills the guy on his cell.
-Originally, the conversation about the burrito was to show up at the end of the video, but it tied together the narrative more nicely after being inserted into the beginning: first we see the main character killing two identical henchmen, and then we see the boss talking to one of the henchmen, showing who's on who's side.
-Spoiler: In the original ending, we were going to have the gamer completely catatonic while his friends and family try to pry him away from the game while the in-game character banged on the glass, hoping somebody would notice. In the ending I had to shoot at 3 in the morning, I ended up portraying the gamer as a crazy villain. In the way I edited it together, however, it fits between the two in two different interpretations: either he is so desperate to beat the game that his real world self represents his eagerness to beat the game and his in-game avatar represents his plea for escape, or the gamer is forcing the character to beat the game in order to escape. Both interpretations follow the blackmail/gossip weapon suggestion, whether the boss is forcing the player to defeat him to escape playing the game or the player is forcing the character to fight for him in order to escape from being in the game itself, or possibly even both, where the boss is forcing the player to force the character to beat the boss to escape so he can escape.
-Surprisingly, this entry is wildly different from everyone else's, in that it contains no blood, no zombies, no rock music (other than the logo theme), no screaming damsels in distress, is mostly serious, and is mostly shot in broad daylight instead of indoors or at night.
I'll notify you guys when the Bloodshots entry page itself is updated so you can vote for it.
