PSA for all my friends here: do not ever take your car to Groovy Automotive. I just brought it back for the 3rd time in a month so they could fix the same problem. I will never use them again.

What happened K? And which location had you gone to?
We've used them in the past, but they seem to have been getting flakier the last couple times. Not too groovy.

This is the N. Lamar location (54th and Lamar I believe)
I took my car in a month ago to have the AC repaired, and some battery cables replaced. They told me the compressor was shot and had to be replaced. That set me back $1100 (pretty pricey.) Three days later, on the way to Houston to see Mr. Waits, my AC belt flew off and the AC stopped working. So I brought it back to them. They replaced the belt and then informed me that my radiator had a giant crack in it. Why this crack wasn't discovered when they checked my AC, I don't know. They also told me that "my electrical system was all screwed up". Relays were missing, etc. How this was not discovered when they replaced my battery cables is also beyond me. So, $500 later I had a car with working air conditioning....until last night, when the AC stopped working.
So this is the third time in a month they're fixing my AC. I have little faith that it will actually be repaired when I get the car back.

I think Justin's van literally caught on fire at a Groovy Automotive, once.

the one across from hancock center messed up my car once, it ended up overheating on 71 and south 1st after they had just fixed it the week before. The people at the meineke down there fixed it for free because they could tell the last mechanic messed it up.
more important, my friend got her car stolen there. She was getting it inspected and they left her keys in the ignition and someone stole it from their parking lot. she had a ton of trouble with it, they were real dicks and no one would call her back for a long time.

when I was dealing with my dying station wagon Abe at Abe's Automotive was very kind, very knowledgeable, charged me much less that I've found anywhere in Austin.

I have used Groovy in the past and have had mixed results. Sometimes they seem totally fair and do a good job. Other times they fuck shit up and steal stuff out of your car. (I lost about 200 CDs and a brand new jacket once) I try to avoid them now.

I had to take my car back twice to have them re-tighten belts. They charged too much, took too long, didn't do it right the first time, and generally acted like jerkwads. This was the N. Lamar Location. I took my car to ME Gene Johnson Station & Garage right next door to Coldtowne. They were knowledgeable, nice, only fixed what was needed, charged a reasonable fee, and my car has not run or felt this good in a long time.
Screw Groovy. I've finally found the right place:

I've heard nothing but bad things about that place as well.

I took my car into Groovy Automotive to look at the AC and when I got my car back, I found a dead baby in the trunk.

My car had been fixed and inspected at Reddy automotive and was being driven around the block to be checked out when it was hit from behind and totaled. Reddy tried to make me pay for the work that had been done. Even called me every month for a few months. I said, What the hell? I never even got to see if you actually accomplished what you said you did with my car. Go after the driver at fault, jackasses."
And then I lost my baby.

I got my car back last night. The AC was "fixed"
This morning, on the way to work, my engine started making a grinding noise and it stopped working.
I am going to rape Groovy Automotive in the ear hole.
Never.
Use.
Groovy.
