The computer in the light booth upstairs at the Hideout is giving the dreaded BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. If you are running tech upstairs this weekend, you will need to do one of the following...
1. Bring an iPod
2. Use the CD player
3. Do a show without sound
4. Fix the computer
Unless of course someone figures out how to fix the machine upstairs before Friday night. PM me if you're interested in the specifics of the error I saw.

I've got a few old computers that I'm getting rid of or donating somewhere. I don't know the vintage of the hideout computer, but these run. I won't be able to do anything with them this week, but if it's replacin' time, I can get one set up over there before too long.
From what you told me before, it sounds like we could maybe recover the drive and get stuff moved over to the new setup, but it'll take some looking at before I could say for sure. Anyway, I know there's lots of nerds around here who'll probably get to it before I'm able to, but lemme know if I can help.

I don't really have much of a spare anything, but if nothing else, I'm good at diagnosing trouble.

The trouble is "Inaccessible Boot Device" on a lovely blue screen.

There are a couple recommendations about that error
here.
I think we need to try to run chkdsk on the harddrive to make sure it's not the cause of the error.

Horked always makes me think of the MacKenzie Brothers.
"Inaccessible Boot Device" sounds like "Bad Hard Drive." Maybe get a cheapie replacement and reload the OS? Are there two HDs in there? I haven't looked at that PC in awhile, but I think there were two HDs, one with the OS and one with all the mp3s and video. If it was one, might have to reload all that music.

I have a shitload of small hard drives lying around. (For various values of "small"...) I'll clean one up and bring it in on Saturday.
