Elections Are Today - Please Vote

I know there's a lot of folks here that are interested in politics - I'm hoping that you're also interested in local politics which will arguably have a greater impact on your day-to-day life.

Today is the run-off election for City Council Place 4 between Laura Morrison and Cid Galindo. Voting takes less than a minute. Seriously - it's super easy - and also super important. This is the most pivotal of the city council races this year and whomever wins will say a lot about where this city is going for years to come.

To find your voting location (it may be different) go here:

I could give a bunch of updates about what's transpired over the past month but I'll just leave it at: I'm supporting Cid Galindo and I hope you will, too.

For more on that endorsement, I posted information back here:

Turn out was terrible in the general elections and poised to be even worse for this one - your vote counts! Please Vote!

Thanks,
Mike

Is that the only thing on the ballot today?

I didn't even know there was an election. I saw signs for early voting, but didn't know what it was for. No wonder turnout is so low.

yep - the only thing. but it's a big thing!

There was no incumbent and the general election got split between 6 canidadtes and because none of them got 50% of the total - the top two were forced into a run-off.

Polls are open until 7pm. :)

Well...we lost.

There are lessons to be learned and perspecitve to be gained in that. I'll give a post-mortem in a day or two....but in the mean time...I'm going to get wasted tonight. 6 months of life wrapped up in fighting the system to no avail.

If you voted today - for Laura or for Cid - thank you. Thanks for participating. I know it's a pain in the ass. I do. But it's important and I appreciate your interest in your own city. Thanks.

All the best,
Mike
