Snackers is looking for anyone and everyone to sign up for weekly improv night at Kick Butt Coffee on Mondays that will start on May 26th.
As most of us are aware, there is an abundance of great troupes here in town but only a few theaters which has made it difficult for newer troupes to get as much stage time as they would like or need to expand and grow. The idea for this night is to create another venue for troupes that are looking for stage time on top of their shows at The Hideout or Coldtowne Theater. This would also be a great opportunity for individual improvisers to create an experimental ensemble outside of their regular troupes, just to mess around or try out a new format.
We would really like to get some troupes on the calendar for the next couple of months (June & July). We are also still looking for at least one more troupe to play on May 26th (contact me ASAP).
Send me your available dates to
snackersimprov@gmail.com or you can pm me directly. We would really like to wrap up a schedule by the middle of May. This will give us time to promote the event.
Thanks!
-AL (Snackers)

Whatever we can make happen through the course of good honest promotion and word-of-mouth. As of late there has been an interesting mix of high schoolers, college students, and regular old folk. Of course, I can't say what the audience will be like for an improv show for sure because there hasn't been an improv show at that venue yet, so we'll see.

The format will pretty much be like the Threefer. Three or four troupes get 25-30 minutes to strut their stuff. This is also a great opportunity for to experiment with new troupes or to dust off that Cage Match thing you did in the last season for another go - three (or four) troupes enter... three (or four) troupes leave.

The time slot that we have is 8-10 pm.
Each troupe will get 25-30 minutes.

Al, Cagematch is running at Coldtowne regularly. Definitely no need to do a Cagematch at this Monday gig as well.

I don't think he meant that there should be a Cagematch here too. I think he just meant that if you have a Cagematch team that hasn't performed in a while, this could be a venue for it.

My understanding is that if you have a side project... like something you came up with for a cagematch... you can sign up for the kick butt coffee thing and continue to play with it there. This is intended to showcase two or three troupes, not run like a cage match.
Did I get that right Al?

Is this a trick question?

To clear the confusion: we're not running a Cage Match. All I'm saying is that if you tried a funky format or ensemble at a Cage Match and you'd like to try it again just for fun, then the Kick Butt show would be a good opportunity to do that.
This is just a show. Three to four troupes. For fun.
