"Backpack Picnic DVD Release Party!
Sun May 4, Ritz

Backpack Picnic is the latest comedy troupe/flower to evolve/blossom from the creative minds/plants that fester/sprout in the brains/humus of Mitch Baker and David Bewley, who have been performing original comedy together for 11 years. René Pinnell joined the troupe when he directed their MTV pilot in 2005, and Shannon McCormick and Jeremy Lamb have been integral players since 2003. Though Backpack Picnic’s history is short, it comes from a long line of absurdistcomedy incarnations dating back to HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival in 2000. They’ve been compared to Kids In The Hall, Monty Python, and most recently, flowering plants. And to celebrate the release of their brand new DVDs of their popular online sketch comedy show, they’re putting on the Ritz! Live comedy, taped comedy and other forms of comedy from beyond this and other dimensions can be yours!"

Hey, I know those guys!

that's right. this is totally happening.

we're having a huge throwdown at the ritz. we're gonna be doing a bit of live stuff, some classic, some new. we're gonna show a couple sketches from the dvd and some videostuff that's so rare it appears nowhere but at this show!

of course dvds will be for sale and there's a strong possibility we'll have our first run of mitch-designed t-shirts.

it's gonna be grand and i think it's either $2 or FREE to get in thanks to the kindness of the Alamo. so, we hope to see you there.

also, there's a couple new sketches up including one that features a Jobber Ratgirl original t-shirt. Can you spot it?

The girl on the bottom, second from the left looks like The Mask... not the Jim Carrey one either. In fact, most of them do.

Creepy indeed. Well done.

I don't know how to ask this without sounding like a prick...

...is it supposed to look like you're on a soccer team with a bunch of kids with down syndrome? Because that photo is creeping my ass out.

Well done!
