My employer does donation matching to a certain limit to 501(c)(3) organizations, and if you're wondering if you can donate money to ACOT for use by the AIC, you can! Here's the word from ACOT:
You donate the money to ACoT, but you have an agreement with ACoT that we give the money to AIC.
We do this for some of our other sponsored projects. We just need to keep a memo on file so that if our bookkeeper changes and a check comes in, there can be no question about where it goes.
You may want to check if your employer can earmark the donation as well. (Check to ACoT but memo line says AIC or AIC program).
We do take 10% of any donations that come in for a sponsored project as we do have to cover our costs of tracking the gift, notifying the donor at year end, etc. etc.
Hey, I heard that Matt donated to the AIC and got his company to match it. Wow! How cool is that?
How can I be as cool as Matt? My employer doesn't match donations
We (the AIC) can accept donations- with or without employee matching and they are tax deductable. If you go out to the AustinImprov.com website, we have button at the top left that says "Donate Now". It should take you through to this secure site that makes it easy to donate and support the work of the Austin Improv Collective which charges you no membership fees but loves you till the end of time (wink, wink!):
Tis the season... If you are corporate, it'd be nice to have that corporation support the arts this year. Not sure if anyone is in the giving mood, tho.
