Catalyst 8, the dynamic professionals’ group supporting the Long Center for the Performing Arts, with support from the Austin Music Foundation and the Austin Film Society, invite you to their inaugural BoostCamp panel discussion titled "Launching your Arts or Film Career to the Next Level."
Panelists: Visual artist Andrew Long; blues guitarist Lance Keltner; Salvage Vanguard Theater founder and Artistic Director, Jason Neulander; AdBongo President John Bush; educator, actor, and playwright, Amparo Garcia-Crow; and Burnt Orange Productions Executive Director Dr. Tom Schatz.

About Our Speakers
Andrew Long is an acclaimed Austin based performing and visual artist who has received numerous awards, grants and commissions in his career, including a grant from the Texas Commission of the Arts from 1993-2007. Mr. Long has also participated in tours and exhibitions across Texas and as far as London, England and Hamburg, Germany.
Lance Keltner is an Austin based blues guitarist who has accompanied such notable musicians as Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and the Allman Brothers Band. In 2003, Keltner joined forces with Carmine Rojas of David Bowie and Rod Stewart's band, and Tal Bergman, who has toured as the drummer with Simple Minds, to form a new group called Simranking. Mr. Keltner is currently planning a tour of Europe in 2008.
Jason Neulander is the founder and Artistic Director of Austin’s own Salvage Vanguard Theater. Neulander has directed and produced more than 50 world premier theater projects at SVT. Since 2005, his productions were nominated for more than 40 local theater awards and he was voted "Best Theater Director" in the 2004 and 2005 Austin Chronicle’s "Best of Austin" polls. He is currently vice president of the Austin Circle of Theaters’ Board of Directors.
John Bush is the president of Austin’s AdBongo advertising agency. Bush’s past clients include Fossil, Zales, The Boy Scouts of America, and the Meadows School of the Arts. He founded AdBongo in 2006.
Amparo Garcia-Crow is an educator, writer and performing artist whose work has been featured on PBS, and in the SXSW Film Festival and the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival. Garcia-Crow has performed at the Kennedy Center and has acted in numerous independent films and commercials. Most recently, Amparo was a Master Acting teacher for the MFA Acting program at the University of Texas.
Dr. Tom Schatz is the Executive Director of Burnt Orange Productions and the University of Texas Film Institute. He is also Warner Regents Professor (and former Chairman) of the Radio-Television-Film Department at the University of Texas. He has written four books about Hollywood films and filmmaking, and authored articles on film for publications like the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Premiere, The Nation, Film Comment, and Cineaste. He is currently writing a book on MCA-Universal with Thom Mount, former President of Universal Pictures.
About BoostCamp and Catalyst 8
BoostCamp is the community outreach program of Catalyst 8 whose objective is to provide Austin performing artists with the tools needed to thrive as businesses. Each two-hour BoostCamp includes well-known artists and subject experts who share creative solutions to business issues faced by arts organizations. The planning of our first BoostCamp was done with the additional support of sponsors Austin Music Foundation, the Austin Film Society, Allen Beuershausen of the Bootstrap Network, and Austin Art Start. Catalyst 8 is a group of volunteers committed to spreading awareness about The Long Center and the Austin art scene. Catalyst 8 is over 200 members strong and has been responsible for more than $300,000 in donations to The Long Center’s capital campaign. Beginning in the summer of 2007, all money raised by Catalyst 8 goes directly to fund Boost, a rental subsidy and business building program aimed progressing Austin’s emerging artists.
