Local TV news

Post by Justin D. »

I know AIC shows have been in The Chronicle, The Onion, and numerous blogs, but has the local TV news been contacted about a show, a run of shows, or festival.

I remember the local news on the Gulf Coast doing spots for community theater when someone contacted them, especially if it was a theme show. I was in a show called Silver Scream, about two guys who fall into a movie screen and have to go through a chronological tale of horror movies (From Nosferatu to Children of the Corn) in a comedy, horror, musical production. Every year, the local news would film interviews with the people behind the scenes and air it at six and ten. It's a human interest story and an arts and culture piece.

Has someone contacted one of the many local news stations in town about ongoing AIC shows? It's free and easy publicity.

My suggestion would be to call each station and try and talk to its morning show producer. Pitch them the idea of doing live improv on the morning show to promote something like OoB or Wafflefest. Morning shows are more open to "less important, more fun" news. And weekend morning shows are even more open. Especially FOX, I think.

Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.
