I got an e-mail from ConstantContact asking me to confirm my e-mail address (austinimprov.com).

I'm assuming this is spam/phishing and have trashed it. I'm reposting this message in General Discussion as well. -MPB

You got that b/c it was sent to ggg@austinimprov.com, which you are copied on. It was not spam, but me sending out a press release from ggg@austinimprov.com to the constant contact list.

Oh! OK... but why did it ask me to confirm my e-mail address by going to a separate page? That looks like a phisher's trick. I thought maybe someone had pilfered the AIC e-mail list and gone hunting.

The long story is that I had to get the ggg@austinimprov.com approved as a sender and that was the email to confirm that it was a working address. Only then could I send out a press release from that address.

In general if you get something forwarded to you from the ggg@austinimprov.com address and you don't know what it is or seems strange, just ignore it. I have a folder in my email program where all those emails go, so I don't get it confused with email that was sent directly to me.
