Out of Bounds a year-round event now?

Post by acrouch »

The Out of Bounds banner on the forums -- the one that says "Out of Bounds is Back" -- claims that Out of Bounds lasts from Sept 29 through Aug 1.

Might it be October instead of August?

Well, from a certain point of view, OoB is a year round event., now that we're hunting for sponsors on a regular basis, writng grant applicatiosn, etc. But yeah, the festival is August 31--Sep 2.

But where are these banners you're talking about, Andy? I don't see any banners on the forums, but perhaps I've got my ad filters set so high I can't see them.

And Jeremy, calm down dude, I know you're excited about moving back, but can you let the people here in Austin deal with making announcements about the festival, etc.

There are banner ads for improv troupes between the first and second posts on any thread, plus one at the top of http://news.austinimprov.com/

You can paste:

Code: Select all

<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' src='http://promo.austinimprov.com/a/adx.js'></script>
<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>
<!--
   if (!document.phpAds_used) document.phpAds_used = ',';
   phpAds_random = new String (Math.random()); phpAds_random = phpAds_random.substring(2,11);

   document.write ("<" + "script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' src='");
   document.write ("http://promo.austinimprov.com/a/adjs.php?n=" + phpAds_random);
   document.write ("&what=zone:1");
   document.write ("&exclude=" + document.phpAds_used);
   if (document.referrer)
      document.write ("&referer=" + escape(document.referrer));
   document.write ("'><" + "/script>");
//-->
</script><noscript><a href='http://promo.austinimprov.com/a/adclick.php?n=afd70533' target='_blank'><img src='http://promo.austinimprov.com/a/adview.php?what=zone:1&n=afd70533' border='0' alt=''></a></noscript>
into your web pages to display a banner from promo.austinimprov.com. We're not selling space but we're doing a bit of internal promotion for troupes and shows. It's all innocuous; no popups, popunders, or any crazy crap like that.

Hmm. I see the banners on the news site, but not here. Something with how I have my browser configured?

For some reason, banners show up for me when I go to boards.austinimprov.com, but not when I go to forum.austinimprov.com. Other than the banners, the two sites are identical.

You work your life away and what do they give?
You're only killing yourself to live

Again hmm. I didn't know about the boards.austinimprov.com address, but I don't get banners at either place.

We should probably stop using boards.austinimprov.com in favor of forum.austinimprov.com. I made some probably-meaningless changes on the server to get rid of the 'boards' address in a few places so we can turn off that name in a few weeks. I'm concerned that the ads aren't getting out; if they're taken out by ad-blockers that's fine, but I don't want them accidentally disappearing due to weird configuration on my end.
