turning off hyperlink

how the fuck do you turn off the stupidest feature of all time, the auto-hyperlink, on excel? i've tried for about twenty minutes now and i'm about to kill someone.
I think this is how you do it:
Go to Tools. Select Options. Select Spelling. Click AutoCorrect options. Choose AutoFormat as You Type. Deselect Internet and network paths as with hyperlinks.
I think that should do it.
