June 3 General Meeting Minutes

Post by kristin »

Present: Asaf R, Andy C, Mike M, Kristin F

Once again, no quorum for voting, so instead much discussion.

Voting
We discussed the representative democracy vs. collective, and how already the chairs have power to make a lot of the decisions on their own with out “big votesâ€

Andy's Updates:

We have a trial version of Constant Contact that we're upgrading for $72 for six months ($12 a month). Any member of the AIC will be able to instantly and easily send a personalized press release to over 200 media contacts.

I've made a poster for the front case (CHECK IT OUT HERE) and need to figure out the most cost-effective way of printing it. Anyone have access to giant photo printing equipment or photo-quality large-size printing?

We created a Flickr account for the AIC, which Roy is curating. Please contact him or me for the password and start uploading your high resolution photos/posters/etc.

And Brad Temple has agreed to stage manage Saturday nights for the next month or so.

Good going Andy. To the job of Stage Managing, is there a task sheet to let Brad now what needs to be done, something he can check off as he goes. I know Jeff was having a hard time being the only staff last night, but when I got there for Maestro, I saw the sign was not put out, so I put it out.

ASAF'S UPDATES
Guero's is going to allow the use of their stage from 7:30-8:00pm for First Thursday in July. Girls Girls Girls has been tapped to use that time to do cabaret-style improvised songs to help promote their upcoming run. We will have a banner ready by then to promote the AIC.

That Other Paper has come back to me saying that the Dudley & Bob radio show is interested in having me on for at least a one-shot. I am still waiting for news on whether it would be a quick plug for the show I am co-producing for That Other Paper (in which I would also plug the AIC) or whether it can the first of a series of Best Week Ever style sessions where we riff on current events and pop culture.

The ad went into the Onion. The ad will be lightened for future use.

The Onion is not able at this time to have a comedy listings, but has plans to have it in the future. This is what I suggest to all troupes: Send them all press materials for inclusion in their Miscellaneous section, but highlight in the top heading of the release that it is a COMEDY IMPROV show. This will hopefully have two effects: first they will make mention of that in your listing (currently, I only see Stool Pigeon listed and there is no way to know what kind of show it is) and secondly, they will get a better sense of just how much comedy is happening in this town.

Dave Buckman is ready to lead a tech workshop. Dave has to get his availabilities to me.

Roy and Bob both have much for me to follow up with them on.

And thank you for posting this Kristin. It helped me remember a couple of things that got lost.

That's awesome. Thanks Asaf.

For my update - I'm meeting up with Erika next week. Already stopped by the bank and, as mentioned at the meeting, to clean up the names we currently have on the account - we'll need a copy of meeting minutes showing who should be listed on the account and who should not, signed by the secretary. They'll also need a copy of a driver's license and the social security number of anyone needing to be added (I believe this should just be Asaf and myself).

After I get the full list of people on the account (I think there are several), we'll have an official vote at the next meeting and we can proceed.
