No, but I have some friends who live there that I can ask. One of them is a co-owner of a bar in NYC called Gstaad. If you go there, ask for Ande and tell her that I sent you. I went to college with her and she's really cool.

There used to be a whole string of vintage shops along St. Mark's Place in the Village, but I have no idea if that's still the case. Also, Canal Street used to have a lot of cheap funky shops that weren't vintage but which were still interesting.

Yeah, I was planning on spending some time wandering the village, so I'll keep my eyes peeled for suits calling to me from shop windows.

I suspect you have the same problem with vintage suits that I do, which to put it bluntly is that when suits were cool, men were fat.

I've found a few that have fit really well, but overall, I've actually found that the ones I like usually are way too small.

I have found some good stuff at Cheap Jack's which I think is still on Broadway at around Bleecker.

And there is a shop (sorry I do not remember the name) on 1st Ave just off of 13th Street.

Alas, St. Marks Place now has a retail outlet for The Gap on it. The street is not a total loss, but the gentrification is creeping in.

There are a few shops near St. Marks Place, on streets not so trendy, such as East 11th or East 13th street. If you get to the corner of 14th & 1st (there's a subway stop there), walk south, meandering back and forth between 2nd Ave and Avene A. There are several little shops along that area.

Also, similar to Justin's suggestion, I say you should just go to that area and ask anybody you see wearing a cool hat or jacket about stores in the neighborhood. Stop in at Detour (jazz club at 13th and 1st), hear some tunes, ask the bartender or anyone at the bar about the vintage shops. You'll get some tips.

There's also a really sweet Goodwill store in the Chelsea area where I have found several stylish jackets. It's somewhere around 25th and 6th.

And Kareem, this is the dessert bar that I mentioned to you. A guaranteed lovely night out with the lady.
