Mo's Surgical Lobsterization

Hello.

Some of you might know that I am soon to go in for some pretty major, scary surgery. My whole life I have had a condition called Pectus Excavatum. Basically, it means my sternum bows inward. I've managed to conceal it most of my life, and the fact that you've never seen me in a low-cut hoochie top has less to do with my politics and more to do with a severe chest wall deformity!

So anyway, about a year ago I found out that it has gotten really bad, and is officially hurting my heart and lungs. So, after much deliberation, freaking out, and being all weird about it, I have gone ahead and scheduled surgery to correct it. I'm having surgery on June 6 in LA. I will be recovering in San Diego at my mom's for about three weeks after.

So anyway, now you all know, so if I've been weird or a jerk lately, it's either because I am inately weird and a jerk, or because I'm about to have all of my intercostal cartilage broken and wired back together. Hello Oxycontin addiction! I should be all healed up and fabulous by Out of Bounds, which is my goal.

Thank you for reading this.

Mo's surgery is good for the world because it means she will write another novel. So yay!

I've got books and DVDs a-plenty for you to borrow. Some of them might even mention Canada!

You're going to recover with Wolverine-like speed, I know it.

Oh yeah, me too. The AIC could start a Mo Daviau Recovery media library!

I will be posting Mo Recovery Movie Nights (or afternoons, or mornings) here when I get back. I have a Netflix queue of 300+, but I want other people to curate my viewings, too. I have a lot of movies to catch up on!

I will also let people ride my electric recliner.

I think that's the first electric recliner euphemism I've ever heard.

Yo, you picked me up from my surgery when no one else could. I'm like an elephant. I like peanuts, and I never forget. I can walk and have my car back. Let me know what you need and when you need it.

Melissa and I are rootin' for ya, and for the Phoenix Suns, and for Rafael Nadal, but mostly for you! Bring us home a healthy Mo, an NBA Championship, and a Roland Garros 1st Place Trophy!
