Ah, is it the Apple thingy? I haven't seen it, but I've heard about it.

I had to get Jastroch to explain the reference. I thought it was very similar to a Nike attacking Reebok ad from a few years ago. It makes it look like the gay and lesbian coalition for Obama with the rainbow o at the end.
I love that negative ads are coming out already... particularly with Dems vs. Dems. Have we learned nothing? This party needs solidarity, not divisiveness. That's politics as usual. I can see potential voters already throwing their hands up in disgust and becoming disinterested... and it's still just 2007!

I'm loving me some Obama
but
was kind of puzzled by this particular ad. sure, it's a takeoff of an old apple ad, but who really cares? what are you saying, Hillary would be like big brother? retarded and very easy to take out of context for the savage paranoid conservatives that have lots of political muscle.
Obama could just as easily say Hillary is old guard & boring by having her epically dull announcement speech playing while Ol' Grandpa snoozes on the porch.

Obama's Ad --
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h3G-lMZxjo
Apple's first "Macintosh" Ad from 1984 --
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R706isyDrqI
Meh. I really like the Apple ad. But then I also remember my first computer -- a Commodore 64 -- in a world where only scientists and military folk had computers. The Commodore was followed by an Apple IIe, and then a later version of the Macintosh which I got as a senior in college. My roommate's brother got a Machintosh when I was a sophomore in college -- 1989 -- and we all drooled over it. A year later USC opened their first community computer lab -- which was mostly used by students who needed to write papers.
I had a great program on my Apple IIe -- it was Broderbund's "Fantavision". I also had Electronic Arts' "Adventure Construction Set" with which I could make cool adventure games. Surprise, surprise -- look where all that took me!
And I remember that this kind of a forum was considered science fiction back then. And that's what's cool about this ad.

Well, to be fair, Hillary Clinton - pro-video game censorship, a "moderate" on the war, and general all-around political oppertunist... vs. Barack Obama, who, even when I disagree with him (rarely) at least actually puts his logic and reasoning into cogent words instead of spewing the latest talking points?York99 wrote:I had to get Jastroch to explain the reference. That's the biggest factor to me. When Clinton speaks, I get the feeling she's using the buzzwords given to her by a committee of focus-group obsessed policy wonks.
When Obama speaks, I get the feeling he actually thinks about the words he uses and intends to use logic and reason.
What can I say, man.

*that was incredibly offensive and I'm sorry I said that if that caused anybody discomfort or slighted either African Americans or women. The humor was in the offensiveness of the statement, however, and is not to be taken seriously.

Appparently Obama's camp had nothing to do with producing the ad. Which could be a lie, but I'm inclined to believe. I mean, there's some copyright issues, there's an inherent geekiness to ripping off an old Apple ad, etc...
YES. Fantavision was a fantastic program. There's nothing like it. I had a green and black monitor and it still fascinated me. I couldn't get into Adventure Construction Set, but I was more a text adventure type of guy. Now, Oregon Trail and Lemonade stand, on the other hand...I had a great program on my Apple IIe -- it was Broderbund's "Fantavision". I also had Electronic Arts' "Adventure Construction Set" with which I could make cool adventure games. Surprise, surprise -- look where all that took me!
PGraph plays every Thursday at 8pm! https://www.hideouttheatre.com/shows/pgraph/
I figured it didn't come from his camp (at least officially). I hope it didn't. YouTube and other internet technology will surely play an interesting role in this election. There might be a "Kennedy over Nixon because Nixon was not familiar with TV as a tool for campaigning and debate" moment in our future. Hey, and can y'all believe how offensive Boyko's post was?
