self-indulgent blog post

i've written about this many times and in fact i even recall starting off posts in the past with 'i've written about this before but...'

here it is again: it is one of the better feelings in the world; better than being drunk, better than an amazing meal, better than the perfect song, better than finding $100 bill. it is only rivaled by the feelings of falling in love and orgasming.

it is doing a great show. friday past i had an 8 o'clock show scheduled at the hideout which was cancelled due to low turnout. i was bummed and almost left but instead volunteered to work the box office for the 10 o'clock show. in the 10 o'clock was a group composed of some of my buddies in prov and the realworld. [TKN] i was invited to perform with them which made me feel loved. then the show happened and it kicked serious ass. it was a standard flowey show that meandered its way in and out of itself, recalling running gags and useful characters. the ending was superb, too. very buttonriffic. the audience of around 30 or so went batnuts at the blackout and we were gods for 30 seconds or so.

i think that's what it is, that godlike feeling. it's a unanimous decision by a group of strangers to show how much they appreciate you and what you just did. my body needs a few essential things to survive. sleep, food, oxygen. but it also is developing a dependency on that shot of acceptance and adulation that only comes a few times a year. it's a healthy dependency and it pushes me to make myself better.

i've said this before too, but i'll say it again. if ever there is a time in my life when i am not improvising and i'm cool with that, i don't want to be that person.

That was a really great show. The ending was perfect, and I was sad to see the lights go down.

The show was very inspiring to watch. I particularly liked the bit about how there is too many weapons in improv.

Solid.
