basecamp

Post by Roy Janik »

Damn. Now that I've had a chance to look at Basecamp, it looks really really sweet. It seems like it could be insanely useful for AIC stuff... especially using the "milestones" feature to track responsibilities and deadlines. But our account's long gone because no one used it.

I'm creating a free AIC account to play around with. I think I'm going to take a look through recent posts and come up with a to-do list based on that.

Don't be surprised if you get a registration e-mail in your inbox. Feel free to reject it, since I'm just doing this on my own with no authority. I just think it'd be useful.

So that being said, what are some open TO DO items?
Gimme a brief description, who's responsible, and a date it's due by.

For the record, I think the account wasn't just allowed to lapse, but voted into lapsing (i.e. an active closure of Basecamp, not just a we forgot about it thing). The AIC no longer wanted to shoulder the expense, even though small, for a program that very few people ever looked at.

Yep, I'm very much aware of that. Which is why I haven't suggested that anyone pay for anything.

With the free account you get the milestones feature and unlimited people. This will allow us to add "to do" items, set a completion date, and assign them to people. They will get a reminder when the item is created, and 48 hours before it's due. In addition, we can easily see which items are late.

Seems useful. I'm not suggesting we use it for much beyond that.

Asaf's already taken over the basecamp, more or less... which lends it a little more credibility, since he's the de facto Managing Director
