ACTING
Part I : February 17 – 19, 2006

There are essentially two kinds of performances:
truthful and contrived. The consummate actor is always
truthful in the execution of his/her craft and,
therefore, not acting.

These Weekend Workshops offer a completely eclectic,
practical, and intensive acting boot camp where we
will introduce and apply the most practical aspects of
the different and prevailing methods, techniques and
schools of thought in acting for film, television and
theatre today. Elementary but indispensable notions of
industry protocol, practices and discipline are also
discussed as a compliment to the development of the
professional actor.

Part I – For first-time students with Pato regardless
of skill or experience level.
Part II – For recurring students who have taken a
weekend workshop or on-going class before
Fridays 6 to 10 pm. / Saturdays 1 to 6 pm. / Sundays

HILL COUNTRY PLAYHOUSE: Do Not Go Gentle
Auditions for Do Not Go Gentle will be held at The
Hill Country Community Theatre on Tuesday, February 21
at 7:00 pm. This show is a comedy and drama all in
one. It centers around 84 year old Lillian Boedecker
Barron who encompasses many wonderful qualities. It
just so happens that she's deceased. The show will be
directed by GiGi Fischer of Horseshoe Bay. Parts are
available for 3 adult women, 1 adult man, 1 teen boy
and 1 teen girl. If possible, please bring a recent
photograph to leave with your audition sheet which
will be available at the theatre. The play will run
May 4 thru May 21. Everyone, regardless of experience
is encouraged to audition and will be seriously

GEORGETOWN PALACE THEATRE: You Can't Take It With You
The Palace Theatre in Georgetown is holding auditions
from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, January 22nd, and Monday,
January 23rd, for the Pulitzer Prize winning comedy,
You Can't Take It With You by George S. Kaufman and
Moss Hart, directed by Joni McClain. You Can't Take It
With You, considered by many to be the model for
today's situation comedy, calls for a cast of 10 men
and 5 women. Roles for men and women of all adult age
ranges are available, with several roles available for
those over 40. Roles are also available for an African
American female and male, late 20's to 30's. Auditions
will consist of cold readings from the script. Resumes
and headshots are welcome but not necessary. You Can't

WIMBERLEY PLAYERS: 1776
The Wimberley Players are holding Auditions for the
riotous musical comedy "1776", written by Peter
Stone and Sherman Edwards, on Saturday, January 28th
at the Greenhouse Theatre in Wimberley from 1-6:00pm.
Director, Lee Colee'-Atnip is looking for 25 men
(16-75 ish) to play the historic characters in
Philadelphia who gave us the American Declaration of
Independence. Wonderful principal roles
(John Adams, a strong vocalist as well as actor, Ben
Franklin, comedic character actor, John Dickenson,
Thomas Jefferson among others) are available as well
as some juicy supporting roles of other members in the
congress, an eccentric custodian and prissy secretary
and more. There are also some non singing
roles for some of the men. The singing roles are a mix
of high comedy show stoppers, mind blowing dramatic
arias and beautiful romantic moments. What carries the
show ultimately though is the strong and passionate
acting. Also needed are two excellent female vocalists
with strong acting abilities to play Abigail Adams and
Martha Jefferson. Audition scenes and sample CDs are

PROFESSIONAL ACTORS for the MFA in Acting. Teaching
assistantships and tuition remission are available for
qualified candidates. The newly designed 60-credit MFA
program will provide the flexibility for actors to
customize their course of study based on their own

or recognized expertise in a craft. The School of
Communications and Theater, as well as Temple
University, provide the interdisciplinary resources
and framework that will allow for an in-depth study of
performance topics. Candidates will be trained in
specific acting pedagogies and gain practical
experience teaching in our Undergraduate Acting
Emphasis Program. The curriculum includes performances
in two Temple Theaters productions each year.

ESTHER'S F0LLIES
Esther's Follies, Austin’s premier musical comedy
satirical revue, is now in its 28th season of topical
comedy on Sixth Street. We are looking for a fulltime
performer who has experience in comedy, can sing, and
can write sketches, musical comedy, or both. We will
be signing up performers for specific audition times
after reviewing resumes and head shots, with auditions
to be held during December, for production to start in
January, ’06 season of Esther’s Follies. Performers
must be able to attend rehearsals Tuesdays and
Wednesdays in the afternoons, and be able to perform
Thursdays through Saturday evenings. We will consider
a short term performance contract commitment. For the
audition, performers should dress comfortably, bring
all costumes, props, and musical instruments necessary
for their audition. Microphones, tape and CD players,
and chairs /tables are available at the theater. The
audition piece should show the character types the
performer is able to create, show writing
capabilities, and be not more than 5 minutes in
length. Performers should also bring a song to
demonstrate their vocal capabilities, and be able to

The Austin Singers announce auditions for experienced
choral singers to join the chorus in preparation for
its May 12 concert featuring Brahms' German Requiem
and Liebeslieder Waltzes. Both works will be performed
with duo piano accompaniment composed by Brahms
himself and conducted by highly regarded choral
director Ara Carapetyan, who recently made his debut
as Austin Singers music director in a successful
December concert.

All voice parts are open but sopranos and altos are
especially sought. Auditions are by appointment in the
evenings of January 9 and 16 at a central Austin
location. Singers are asked to bring a short prepared
solo (accompanist provided, bring two copies of music)
and will also vocalize and sight read.

About the Austin Singers
The Austin Singers chorus was founded in September
1995 and has since grown to become a 60-voice, fully
auditioned volunteer ensemble. Directed by Lanier
Bayliss from 1995 through 2004, the group welcomed Ara
Carapetyan as its new music director in July 2005. The
Austin Singers perform several concerts each season,
dedicating one concert annually to benefit a local
human service charity. The chorus has gained a unique
position among Austin-area performing groups through
its innovative programming of works from diverse
cultures and eras as well as its charitable efforts.
Upcoming auditions will expand the chorus to about 75
voices. Rehearsals are held Monday evenings at a
central Austin location.

RIVER CITY POPS (RCP) Singer/Dancers wanted
RCP, a popular Community Show Chorus, is looking for
