hey all,
i just wanted to pass along a compliment on last night's jam. my roommate's boyfriend got up on stage (the 6'6" trinidadian guy with orange shirt and sneakers) and he has been raving about it ever since. he told me he even had an improv dream, and if he lived in austin he would sign up for the classes. great job, guys!
love,

he said he regretted not playing in last week's saturday jam as last night could have been his second time to do improv.
it's great to see that addiction take hold in someone isn't it?

fer sure.
bob and i were talking about that guy this morning and how awesome he was...after last night, i want to make sure (more than ever) that folks know about the jam/hullabaloo...its such an awesome way to get new improvisers 'bit' and in the community, not to mention people that havent played in a while back in the fold.
thank you (jeremy & andy) for plugging the post-maestro jam. people really seemed to have a great time, and it was so _very_ cool to see experienced, newbie and unexperienced folk doing it together. coming off a maestro, i think people were (and will be) ready to get up there and take some swings themselves.
i know everyones schedules are really full now, so i am really appreciative of everyone who stayed and made it happen (val, roy, wes, kareem, kaci, bob, jen, jay, dave, erin, andy, jill...more).
some notes:
roy mentioned wanting to play particular games in the future, and wes was interested in honing directing skills by hosting one of the games.
for next week, and beyond:
let me know which games you would like to play in the future and that you are willing to host/explain this game to the audience. i think we should put up 6-7 games per show, depending on when maestro comes in.
for those of you that didnt make it out - please tell your friends who might be interested and show up next week!

I love hosting/directing, based off my limited experience doing it so far (twice in maestro, lots during the tuesday night jams). So put me to use as much as you want.
For next week, I was thinking about running Hell Dub. It might be a bit advanced for newbies, but it's always a lot of fun. I also like directing DVD, slideshow, and yearbook.

Some games that I think an audience participant would enjoy and that are low pressure (and that we haven't played in a while) are emotion party, yearbook, and slide show. I'd love to direct the latter two, and I'd do the former as well.

I just wanted to express my excitedness at how successful the first Jam was this past Saturday, and wanted to thank everyone who was involved in some way. Erika pretty much named everyone I think, but it was great to have so many people stay and help run, play, and support the Jam. It was awesome to see AIC people mixing with those visiting students mixing with those Second City tourCo people mixing with non-improvisors off the street mixing with old ComedySportz/TheatreSports people... Val can attest to my near-permanent grin throughout.
I just wanted to clarify something (based on something I heard at Jay & Andy's party afterwards)... Absolutely feel free to play more than one game -- certainly don't think that you get one chance and that's it. Granted, we will (slowly) have a larger non-improvisor attendance in coming weeks/months. As that happens, definitely allow people who haven't played that night, or people who aren't part of AIC to get a chance up there -- feel it out and notice if people aren't getting a chance -- but you are more than welcome to get up there mutiple times. You are all very experienced and supportive players -- the true success of the Jam rests on our support of the show and especially of the players who come to try this for the first time.
