The Experience committee kicked around the idea for a monthy newsletter/program and I learned enough typesetting to put together a rough draft.
My goal is to promote our shows, our classes, our organization, and our membership all in one shot. The back (inside) space is left for a monthly calendar of events with directions to the venue, etc. I'd also like to profile one troupe, improvisor, and/or volunteer as space permits. Each troupe performing on a night can show up with half-sheet flyers promoting themselves which would get stuffed in the program along with the current class schedule and other info.
Once we get a few months of attendance info, we can approach sponsors to buy ad space to defray the printing cost and develop a relationship with local businesses (such as our bar of choice...)
Post comments and I'll update the draft accordingly. We'll talk more about this at the meeting next weekend.
Yazaa! First draft of February program!
Anything about the AIC itself.

Don't forget one of Austin's newest troupe, 1813 Drake.
Good job Bob. I'm looking forward to handing those suckers out next month, we're definately going to see a boost in audience attendence. I can't wait to see the mini calendar!
however i thought the hullabulloo thing was only the first of every month not every other week leaving experimental night only the first saturday of the month

I based the schedule off Wes' flyer which says the Improv Lab is the first Saturday, and the Hullabaloo is every other Saturday - let me know if that's changed.
I tweaked some of the text and settings so there's a little more white space and a nod to 1813 Drake so take a look at the update.

is it possible to have justified text?
wait
as in the text is shaped as a solid block? i think it'll help give it a cleaner look.

Yes, but I'm still learning this typesetting package (not Word) and I've had a hell of a time getting hyphenation to do what I want. The upshot is that when I've tried to get full justification, either there are massive interword spaces or every fifth word gets hyphenated.Evilpandabear wrote:is it possible to have justified text?

I can't see that PDF. It tries to load and then says Done and to no effect. Any ideas?
What are you using and why not use Word? Unless what you are using is commonplace, Word will allow others to take over and edit when you don't want to or can't keep up with it some month.
As for Lab v. Hullabaloo: http://boards.austinimprov.com/viewtopic.php?t=163
The "Lab" is the experimental part that happens once a month (lab, experiement, get it? If so, please explain it to me). The Hullabaloo is the "party" that happens with audience the rest of the month.
