Blah blah Tuesday Night Jam.
Blah blah Hideout Theater.
Blah blah 7:00-10:00.

Tonight it was suggested that we work on some status exercises, which is one of my favorite things in the world to work and play with. So that will happen for sure. I was also thinking of touching on some platform and story arc stuff.

I'd like to structure the end of the jam similar to the last one, too, where the mock show is only half games and then a 25 minute or so long form of some sort.

The jam's been really fun lately and we've had a lot of new and experienced players coming by. This is a GREAT chance for newer players, especially, to build the skills they need to play in Maestro or start up a troupe of their own. So come on out and have fun!

I'll be there, most likely. This will probably be the last jam I go to before classes start.

By the way, did they clean up all those dead birds just yet?

Many kudos for Wes and Val who ran tonight's jam. It was a really great exploration and lesson on status. For all who weren't there, you missed out on some good status work tonight.

Hooray Wes and Val! :)

Thank you all for coming--we couldn't have a jam wihtout jammers.

Last night was a lot of fun and we played with a lot of intersting devices and exercises. I brought back the "revolving stage" from the Status Blank Show and for our longform set Mike K suggested we play the truth chair...a format that I love. It ended on a personally embarrassing note about my own relationship (oh, the joys of forced, unabashed truth), but also one of the most satisfactory and playful scenes ever to come out of the format ("Here's a sheep's heart. I love you").

I have a lot of ideas brewing for next week and I want to play with some other things even beyond improv (for me personally). But I'll leave that for another post.

I'm having fun reshaping, rebuilding, and redirecting the jam. Thank you to all those who consistently, or even occasionally, come by and support the effort. It means a lot to me personally and to the future of improv in Austin. I will happily continue to spearhead this time slot and initiative as long as you are getting use out of it and having fun. I have a lot of ideas, so expect it to get a lot more playful, too!

I am really sorry I missed this. I got caught up in the world of 3D animation where time does not exist. I hope to make it back soon. Keep Jammin, Jammers!!
