Found magazine/improv jamboree

Post by valetoile »

Found magazine is one of my favorite things in the world. People from all over the US, even the world, send in photos, letters, notes, drawings, anything they find on the ground. Then they are put together into an awesome, touching, hilarious, voyeuristic magazine. To see a little of what I'm talking about, go to foundmagazine.com.

But my idea for an event is this: They are going on tour in May and June. How awesome would it be to have a show where these guys share some of their awesome finds, and we do scenes inspired by them? Anyone interested? If so, I will contact Davy Rothbart, the dope genius behind it all, about getting together.

I would like to concur with the rest of the peanut gallery.

I bet you could do some awesome emotional, non-comedy scenes, too, with a set-up like that.

Around the time that Dirty Found came out, Jason (the other Found co-founder) was a guest on a talk show (improvised and not) that Erika (and I, to a lesser extent) was involved with in Chicago. He was super nice and generous, and I'd be willing to bet they'd be into something like this. Great idea Val! However I can help...

Awesome! Do you think it would make more of an impact if you contacted them, since you worked with Jason? I would otherwise be very happy to do the contacting, and drop your name in the process.

This sounds so cool. A school teacher friend found a note from one middle schooler to another he was in love with and it was hilarious, sweet and scary all in one. Lots to pull from...

Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.
