Laughing for one hour burns 500 calories

Post by Mo Daviau »

Today at lunch, I read in one of those crap fitness magazines (in the breakroom at my scholarly beacon of a workplace, the Harry Ransom Center) that laughing for one hour burns 500 calories. We should work that angle into the marketing.

Actually, on this note, I was watching News8Austin yesterday and they were talking about the Men's Fitness list of fittest cities in America. Austin was #23, but Arlington Texas was #22. Austin is pissed apparently. Mayor Will Wynn is starting some sort of Austin fitness council with the goal of making Austin one of the TOP 10 fittest cities by next year, and the #1 fittest city by 2010.

Fitness council in Austin, everyone focusing on being fitter, laughing for one hour burns 500 calories.

Holy shit. That's some great marketing opportunities right there.

Thanks Mo!

i really should be working, but i am a little fried from a whirlwind trip to chicago yesterday.

anyhoos - this campaign.

i would really like to pair this idea (laughing=burned calories) with an idea i had for a awesome promotion...get a discounted arrangement with amy's (during a slow catering month for them?) and put on a night of shows that charges a little more, but everyone gets ONE amy's (no crush'n?) ice cream with their admission.

students would dig that, thinks me.

back to site mapping. fart.

we could totally do the ice cream/show promo. We can get the ice cream pre-scooped, and it's pretty cheap (cheaper than in the stores), and keep it in a cooler and give it out at the show. I can give you (or anyone else) contact info for catering. Tell 'em I sent you.
