Improv Destination: Austin!!

Post by York99 »

A very special guest came to the ColdTowne Theater tonight. I was so dumbfounded that he was in MY theater that I stared at him creepily and even sort of asked his name to re-assure myself.

Tom Booker.

Tom was a teacher of mine at Second City in Los Angeles. Out of 10-15 teachers that I had at Second City, Tom was by far my favorite. He's a great teacher and just an awesome guy.

And he's moving to Austin!!

Probably!! He said he wasn't getting much acting work in LA, so he was looking for places in Austin. He's here for another week, so hopefully I can get him to come out tomorrow night or Saturday night. He came to the jam earlier this week and Christina and Wes met him then. He showed up at CTT, so he definitely wants to make sure he likes the improv community while here. Have a drink and sit with him and he'll tell you stories about his wilder days.

You've all seen him, but you might not know it. He does a lot of commercials. Also, he was the limo driver in an episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Check out his Imdb: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0095410/

Sorry if I'm gushing, but I really like Tom. I'll try to get him to join the forum and introduce himself to everyone.

Was that the episode where Larry got arrested for stealing silverware for the meal he took the limo driver?

It's been a while since I've seen that one. The episode is called "The Massage" and here's the description from http://www.tv.com/curb-your-enthusiasm/ ... mmary.html:

A masseuse's offer catches Larry off-guard, and Cheryl's visit to a psychic leaves him worried she'll find out just what the offer was. Later, a refusal to "stop-and-chat" ends up forcing Larry into an embarrassing situation.

Madeline has them on DVD.

I misread that as "Tom Baker" for a moment, and got REALLY REALLY EXCITED!

I've calmed down now. It's all gonna be okay.

If it was Tom Baker, I would have stolen his scarf.
